NASA internal policy reforms praised
More than 140 scientists and other NASA employees are praising the space agency for planning reforms of its communications policies.
The review was ordered by NASA Administrator Michael Griffin after published reports indicated political appointees had tried to muzzle agency scientists and had altered news releases that were conflicted with Bush administration positions, The New York Times reported Tuesday.
The praise came in an e-mail message signed by scientists, engineers and other NASA workers at research centers across the nation.
A dozen senior NASA scientists and public affairs officials are drafting the agency's first revised policy on public communications since 1987.
