Briefs: Ericsson to deploy Taiwan optical network

Ericsson has been picked to deploy an advanced optical metro network throughout Taiwan for delivery of third-generation broadband.

Ericsson's contract from VIBO Telecom calls for an AXX 9300 METRO solution that will be ready for operation by the end of the month.

VIBO is seeking a multi-service platform for both 3G offerings and standard Internet traffic.

Ericsson said in a release that the Taiwan job adds to the company's prominence in the competitive 3G infrastructure market.
