The Motorola VT2000 Series of Voice Gateways offer Service Providers a Reliable Platform for Delivering Internet Telephony Services
Motorola, Inc. today introduced a new family of plug-and-play gateways that combine voice-over-IP (VoIP) telephone calling and home networking in one simple device.
The new Motorola VT2000 Series Voice Gateways power two lines of telephony service through a home, using a cable or DSL connection and an existing VoIP service. The sleek, silver box is easy to install – just connect a broadband modem and a standard telephone handset. In a matter of minutes, consumers can begin enjoying the freedom of wireless connectivity and the cost savings that come from making phone calls over the Internet.
Motorola voice gateways also eliminate the clutter that comes with having multiple broadband devices in the home. The product family includes many options for home networking, including a model with a home network router and another with a fully-featured wireless access point. All models intelligently prioritize voice calls over data transmissions, so consumers can enjoy a high-quality Internet phone conversation and surf the Web – at the same time.
For Internet Telephony Service Providers (ITSPs), Motorola VT2000 series gateways offer a flexible platform for reliably delivering VoIP services to residential and small business customers. The gateways support all CLASS services, including caller ID, call waiting, and three-way calling. Additionally, Motorola VT2000 series products are interoperable with networks that support the session initiation protocol (SIP) standard for Internet telephony.
The three models in the Motorola VT2000 series are:
The VT2000, which adds voice services to an existing home network. The VT2000 provides an economical means for consumers to add two lines of VoIP telephony service and essential routing capabilities to their home network.
The VT2400, which incorporates the features of the VT2000 and adds a four-port home network router for wired peripherals, such as printers or gaming consoles. The VT2400 also includes a firewall that supports network address translation (NAT), port-forwarding, and virtual private networking (VPN) pass-through.
The VT2500, an all-in-one solution for connecting telephones, computers, laptops, and more to a home broadband connection. The product’s integrated wireless access point supports WiFi® Protected Access (WPA) – the latest security standard for protecting data.
Motorola VT2000 Series Voice Gateways will be available to service providers and consumer retail outlets in the second quarter of 2005.
