Fujitsu today announced a new operations management solution, the FUJITSU Enterprise Application Logifit TM-NexTR, newly added to its Logifit series of logistics solutions that seek to revolutionize the logistics industry. Sales in packaged and SaaS versions commence today in Japan. Logifit TM-NexTR is a solution for analyzing fleet vehicles and supporting fleet operations. It allows for the mixed use of devices, such as the use of digital tachographs for heavyweight cargo vehicles, and the use of smart devices (smartphones or tablets) for smaller vehicles or subcontracted vehicles, for which it is difficult to install digital tachographs. In addition, the software includes the ability to collect vehicle-sensor data (such as on speed, fuel consumption, and temperature) as well as data on the vital signs of drivers, from which the warning signs of drowsiness can be detected by linked features, to bring visibility to the work environment. This software eliminates the need for specialized onboard equipment, thereby greatly reducing operating costs while also contributing to safe, high-quality freight operations.

In recent years, it has been a challenge to transform supply chain models in line with changes in the operating environment, such as Japan's shrinking and aging working population, the expansion of the personal delivery business, the spread of smartphones, and the use of big data in business. To quickly adapt to these changes, and to reduce logistics costs while increasing shipping quality, there is a need to improve transportation and delivery operations. To its Logifit series of solutions for logistics and warehousing management, Fujitsu has now added Logifit TM-NexTR, a transportation and delivery management solution that allows for the mixed use of digital tachographs and smart devices, enhancing customers' overall management of their logistics operations.

Logifit TM-NexTR Features

1. Enables mixed use of digital tachographs and smart devices

The new solution helps to lower operating costs by enabling the efficient use of a mixture of devices, such as the use of digital tachographs on fleet-owned vehicles and heavyweight cargo vehicles, and the use of smart devices (smartphones and tablets) on smaller vehicles used for personal deliveries or subcontracted vehicles that are temporarily being used, for which it is difficult to install digital tachographs. In addition, when used on smart devices, product information including details on loading and unloading for respective items and recipients, and the recipient's physical location, can be confirmed onscreen to prevent delivery errors.

2. Collects vehicle sensor data and driver vital signs to support safe driving

Installing a vehicle-data collection connector makes it possible to gather information from an OBD2 interface(1) via a smart device, so that speed, fuel consumption, engine RPM, and other detailed vehicle data can be monitored by the fleet manager and driver, supporting safe and efficient driving. In addition, vehicle-cabin temperature can be tracked using a temperature sensor, with alarms triggered on the driver's smart device if the temperature exceeds a preset threshold, to improve transport quality. Furthermore, to provide an additional level of support for safe driving, the driver's vital signs can be tracked using the wearable sensor FUJITSU Vehicle ICT FEELythm, to detect warning signs of driver drowsiness with an optional feature.

3. Ties into dispatch-support system for accurate and effective delivery management

This new software ties into Fujitsu's dispatch-support system, so that loading time, driving time, and unloading time can be comprehensively simulated and destination arrival times can be predicted, even when passing through multiple depots. Navigation support, which includes information from VICS, such as on traffic congestion and the speed limits for all roads, can provide route guidance and predicted arrival schedules for more precise transportation and delivery management.
