BMJ to publish Journal of Investigative Medicine from January next year

August 6th, 2015

Global healthcare knowledge provider BMJ is to publish the Journal of Investigative Medicine (JIM), which is owned by the prestigious American Federation for Medical Research (AFMR), the company has announced.

The first issue of the title under the new partnership is scheduled for January 2016, which will mark the start of JIM's 64th volume.

JIM will add to BMJ's expanding portfolio of more than 60 world leading medical and allied science journals, including several that are published in collaboration with US based medical societies and associations.

JIM is peer reviewed and currently publishes 8 issues a year, covering the latest scientific developments in all medical research specialties, with the aim of translating these into clinical practice.

JIM is key to AFMR's mission, which is to enhance, promote, and support clinical, translational, and basic research, and the work of researchers and physician scientists in hospitals, laboratories, government and academic institutions around the globe.

Editor in chief Dr Michael McPhaul, who has been at the journal's helm since 2004, will continue in his role.

"The AFMR is excited to be joining with BMJ to publish the Journal of Investigative Medicine. The AFMR-BMJ partnership will further accelerate the development of the journal as an outstanding venue for the publication of high quality research and timely reviews," he said.

JIM is a prestigious addition to BMJ's publishing programme," added Glen Campbell, Managing Director, North America. "Working with AFMR and Dr McPhaul, we look forward to strengthening the journal's position as a vital resource for leading investigators and clinical researchers whose work in translational research is having a profound impact on improving the practice of medicine globally," he said.
