Geoscientists to meet in Stillwater, Oklahoma, USA
Geoscientists from the south-central U.S. and beyond will convene in Stillwater, Oklahoma, USA, on 19-20 March to discuss new science, expand on existing science, and explore the unique geologic features of the region. Sessions range from petroleum and water topics to climate and hazard topics, including field trips and in-depth workshops.
The meeting will take place on the campus of Oklahoma State University (OSU), which is located on the scenic shoreline of the Permian Sea. OSU has provided an intersection of geologic disciplines since the inception of the Boone Pickens School of Geology, with a history in petroleum, water, and agriculture studies. The meeting will have a diverse program of workshops, technical sessions, and field trips covering a wide spectrum of geologic disciplines.
Included is a core workshop: "Mid-Continent Conventional and Unconventional Reservoirs," and a workshop addressing water challenges in the nation: "A Holistic Approach to Groundwater Resource Development and Management."
Two field trips are planned prior to and after the meeting: (1) Geology of the Wichita Mountains; and (2) Hydrogeology of the Arbuckle Simpson Aquifer and EPA Tour/Hydrodays.
