Springer starts new journal with the Italian Economic Association

December 9th, 2014

Springer will publish the new official journal of the Italian Economic Association, the Italian Economic Journal. Articles have already been published online on SpringerLink; the first print issue will be compiled in March 2015. The journal has been formed through a merger between the association's former publication Rivista Italiana degli Economisti and the Giornale degli Economisti from the renowned Bocconi University.

The peer-reviewed journal will be published three times per year, providing a scholarly, international forum for methodological approaches and various schools of thought in all areas of economics and economic policy. Applied, institutional and theoretical papers in English, which deal in a rigorous and timely fashion with issues of relevance to the European and Italian economic debate, will be included. The Editor-in-Chief and General Secretary of the Society Roberto Cellini from the University of Catania, Italy, is supported by a large international editorial board.

"The Italian Economic Journal is based on a solid and long tradition of journal publication with contributions from internationally renowned economists," said Cellini. "Over the last several decades the international focus of the society has increased steadily. Our new agreement with Springer will help improve the visibility in the international academic world, taking advantage of Springer's tremendous resources and excellent publishing platform."

"We are delighted to start this long-term partnership with the Italian Economic Association," said Springer Economics Editor, Katharina Wetzel-Vandai. "Springer has a long history of publishing with the Italian research community and this journal is a valuable addition to our economics portfolio. The new cooperation shows that we are dedicated to supporting high-quality research. My colleagues and I are looking forward to working with the journal's editors, the association and its members."

Founded in 1950, the Italian Economic Association / Società Italiana degli Economisti (SIE) seeks to stimulate economic research in Italy and foster exchange among economists. It promotes research, investigations and scientific publications; prepares and organizes meetings and scientific workshops; and facilitates initiatives aimed at developing scientific research in the economic sciences.
