GW School of Engineering and Applied Science Inducts Six New Members Into GW Engineering Hall of Fame

WASHINGTON—The George Washington University School of Engineering and Applied Science inducted six new members into the GW Engineering Hall of Fame. The GW Engineering Hall of Fame recognizes and honors distinguished SEAS alumni, faculty, staff and friends who have contributed to engineering, technology, management or public service in a sustained and significant way during their careers. The ceremony also honored its distinguished industry partner, Clark Construction Group, LLC.

"Our GW Engineering Hall of Fame inductees are an inspiring group of alumni who demonstrate what talented individuals can do with an engineering education," said David Dolling, dean of SEAS. "With their talents, education, hard work and energy, they have become corporate leaders at Lockheed Martin and Microsoft, academic leaders at MIT, research leaders, and innovators and entrepreneurs."

The ceremony took place Oct. 23 at the National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia, and was sponsored by Hughes, Lockheed Martin and the Washington Society of Engineers.

Inductees

Jennifer P. Byrne is vice president of engineering and technology, aeronautics for Lockheed Martin Corporation. She earned her doctor of philosophy in systems engineering in 2012.

Pradman P. Kaul is president and chief executive officer of Hughes Communications, Inc. He earned a bachelor's of science in electrical engineering in 1967.

Laird H. Moffett is chief scientist at Envisioneering. He earned a doctor of science in electrical engineering in 1976.

Nayereh S. Rassoulpour is president and chief executive officer of NSR Solutions, Inc. She earned a master's of science in information systems management in 1990.

Ian A. Waitz is dean of the School of Engineering and the Jerome C. Hunsaker Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He earned a master's of science in aeronautics in 1988.

Ya-Qin Zhang is president of Baidu Corporation and most recently served as corporate vice president and chairman of Microsoft Asia's R&D Group. Dr. Zhang earned a doctor of science in electrical engineering in 1989.
