TCT 2014 will highlight pioneering women and women's issues in cardiology

Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics 2014 (TCT) will feature a number of sessions and presentations focusing on women in healthcare and interventional cardiology. Sponsored by the Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF), TCT is the world's premier educational meeting specializing in interventional cardiovascular medicine.

"This year's TCT showcases just some of the current and future initiatives aimed at improving the medical treatment of women with cardiovascular disease," said Roxana Mehran, MD. Dr. Mehran is Chief Scientific Officer of the CRF Clinical Trials Center and a Co-Director of Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT). She is also Professor of Medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Director of Interventional Cardiovascular Research and Clinical Trials at the Zena and Michael A. Wiener Cardiovascular Institute.

"We are also very excited to honor Dr. Marie Claude Morice as the first woman to be given the TCT Master Operator Award, as well as raise awareness of the importance of increasing the quality of professional opportunities for female interventional cardiologists," Dr. Mehran added.

TCT 2014 Geoffrey O. Hartzler Master Operator Award

Marie Claude Morice, MD will be presented the TCT 2014 Geoffrey O. Hartzler Master Clinical Operator Award. The award is given each year to a physician who has advanced the field of interventional cardiovascular medicine through technical excellence and innovation. Dr. Morice, a world-renowned interventional cardiologist, is the first woman to be recognized with this award.
