New Jersey Inventors Hall of Fame to honor NJIT researchers and alumnus tonight at annual awards banquet

Three members of the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) community will be honored this evening by the New Jersey Inventors Hall of Fame (NJIHoF) in recognition of their contributions to innovation in the Garden State. Treena Livingston Arinzeh, PhD, Roberto Rojas-Cessa, PhD, and Khondaker M. Salehin, PhD, will receive awards at a formal banquet on Oct. 17, 2013 at the W Hotel in Hoboken.

Treena Livingston Arinzeh and Roberto Rojas-Cessa will each accept an Innovators Award, which recognizes significant scientific achievement. Dr. Arinzeh, a professor of biomedical engineering, will be recognized for her renowned research and inventions utilizing biomaterials and regenerative medicines for orthopedic and neural disorders. Earlier this month, Arinzeh was awarded the NJIT Board of Overseers Excellence in Research Prize and Medal in recognition of a sustained record of contributions that has enhanced the reputation of NJIT. Dr. Rojas-Cessa, an associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, will be honored for his renowned research in the areas of broadband and high-speed networks and a wide range of computer communication technology applications.

Accepting a Graduate Student Award will be Khondaker M. Salehin, PhD, an adjunct professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, in recognition of his patents related to advancing schemes for measurements of Internet performance parameters. Dr. Salehin, who received his doctoral degree from NJIT in May 2013, collaborates with Dr. Rojas-Cessa on his research.

Established in 1987, The New Jersey Inventors Hall of Fame promotes and fosters creativity, invention and innovation, which contributes to economic growth and improvement of the quality of life in New Jersey and around the globe. The organization, unique to the State of New Jersey, honors inventors, innovators, and others who have created and developed their inventions in the State of New Jersey, "The Invention State".
