Cisco adds security to switches, wireless

October 18th, 2005 in Technology /

Cisco Systems will reportedly announce Tuesday it has added a new security layer to its wireless and switching products in order to better protect networks.

The Network Admission Control software will act as a gatekeeper to maintain the integrity of the network by blocking access to viruses and spyware.

ZDNet reported Monday that the software will allow most laptops and PDAs to get on to a wireless network; however, it could turn away a laptop that has outdated anti-virus software.

The software upgrades will be available to customers in November.
