Briefs: Four firms seek Finland mobile TV licenses

Four companies have applied for mobile television licenses in Finland.

Government officials said Monday that two network firms and two telecoms have submitted their applications for the licenses ahead of the Jan. 31, 2006 deadline.

The applicants, according to NewsRoom Finland, are telephone companies Elisa and TeliaSonera, along with French-owned network operators Telemast Nordica and Digita.

The applications are considered an expression of interest and are not required to include details of the applicants' specific plans for mobile television operations.
