In Brief: Tvia video chip used in LG security DVR

LG Electronics will use a video processor designed by Silicon Valley's Tvia in its new line of digital video recorders for the security industry.

Tvia said Friday its TrueView 5605 graphics-and-display processor was selected for the LDV-S500 DVR that LG will be marketing to the high-end security-and-surveillance industry.

LG Chief Engineer J.W. Pak said in a Tvia news release that the TrueView 5605 provided the high-definition signal input, direct digital output and the overall display quality they were seeking.

The sharper images improve facial recognition and support better graphics capabilities.

The new units are expected to ship next year and could reach more than 3 million units worldwide, Tvia said.
