Scientist Dmitri Denisov said Thursday that Fermilab's "probability of discovering" the Higgs is between 50 and 90 percent

I am afraid there is one little detail which might get in the way of this discovery - the Higgs does not exist.

Actually the whole Higgs mechanism is pretty useless, it supposedly explains mass and is part of standard model, yet the model needs ALL the masses of particles as fundamental constants! Not to mention it fails to predict the mass of Higgs itself, does not account for clear relations between masses, fails to explain dark matter, does not allow neutrino oscillations, is at odds with general relativity, etc.

All these failures are clear indications that mass is NOT what standard model makes it to be. The Higgs mechanism is nothing more then a cheap ad hoc fix which adds mass to a model which does not otherwise have it. It's ugly, does not offer any useful predictions and so far there is nothing to suggest it is what actually happens in reality.

Unfortunately, it's not a race, it's a war. For some, at least. I don't get what's the difference if it's on Fermilab or on LHC, when the scientists that make the experiments are the same. But no, it's so much more scientific to sabotage LHC.

Who really understand Higgs mechanism of Standard Model in its physical level? In classical physics it's a mass increasing effect due the interaction of particles with lattice of attracting particles. It's responsible for low resistance of metals at low temperature. It doesn't creates mass form scratch, it gains mass on account of Higgs lattice, which can correspond to Aether in Standard Model.

But if Aether exists, the rest mass of particles can be explained from scratch as a condensate of Aether mass density, no subtle Higgs effect phenomena is necessary to consider at all. To explain why fluid droplets have mass you're not required to consider some interactions of droplets with vapor.

I hope, I explained my conceptual problems with Higgs boson concept clearly. The existence of Higgs lattice doesn't mean, Higgs boson is responsible for particle mass, it's responsible only for subtle increasing of mass. After all, Heim theory predicts the mass of electrons and many other particles to seven digits even without assumption of some Higgs boson at all.

Even if physicists detect Higgs boson, it's evident, they cannot compute the particle mass from scratch by using it. We should rather analyze, why Heim's theory performs so well in prediction, rather then compete in dangerous collider experiments. But people always prefer fight and competition over thinking.

SOME particles. Some of the predictions are out of wack, and I personally don't see a need for predictions of mass UNLESS you can show that there is only one possible universe. If other universes have other masses for fundamental particles than a theory that can predict the masses of this universe from fundamental principles is inherently only correct by accident.

Still I have my doubts about the Higgs boson. It feels like a band aid. Then again much in quantum physics feels at least a bit strange but it works.

What dangerous collider experiments? The LHC cannot match the energy of the collisions that occur at the top of our atmosphere every day.

Thinking without experiments to test that thinking can lead to garbage. Einstein insisted on a steady state universe from thinking. He was wrong by experiment.
