Asian soot, smog may boost global warming in US

Sep 04, 2008 By SETH BORENSTEIN , AP Science Writer

(AP) -- Smog, soot and other particles like the kind often seen hanging over Beijing add to global warming and may raise summer temperatures in the American heartland by three degrees in about 50 years, says a new federal science report released Thursday.

This crap is coming to the West Coast and location depends on the Jet Stream. I queried NOAA 3 years ago about the effect of all the Smoke in the Atmosphere over the Pacific from the Wild Fires in S. E. Asia and at that time, they said it had no effect, and I can not fathom how they came to that conclusion since Volcanoes also effect temps. and weather especially over Oceans.

The real crap starts with the false statement that CO2 remains in the atmosphere for decades while polluting aerosols last only a few days. ALL of the experimental research using empirical data indicate that CO2 cycles through the atmosphere in range of from 5 to 12 years, not decades or centuries. This is one of the points upon which the GC models have been falsified.

This type of phony alarmism will be used to justify further limits in our greenhouse gas emissions in order to offset the increasing pollutant emissions from Asia and Russia. In other words, lets wreck our economy and export our jobs the China, India and Russia in the name of limiting climate change and reducing pollution here.

Seth Borenstein should be re-assigned to Bejing where he can experience dirty air up close and personal.

Are you wholly ignorant of the fact that developing nations' productions of CO2 is the result of the West 1) having exported its smokestack industries to such countries; and 2) creating the demand for the products that are manufactured by such expatriated industries?

Are you aware that, were the US to repatriate such industries, its own levels of CO2 production would be approx. 30% higher than at present?

In short, the US has simply outsourced its generation of CO2 and pollutants, many of them quite toxic.

Majority fo the reason why this article was published is political bias.

If China caught up to the US in industry and commercial exploitation of their resources they would absolutely trounce the US and the rest of the western world as a super power among super powers.

This article is alarming for one reason, it shows the political motivation of the IPCC and other alarmist groups. I sense bad things comming from US-Chinese relations over non-issue alarmist groups spewing articles like this to an uninformed public.

Once more you've simply evaded the substantive matters raised by one who you would rebut by way of employing mis-direction.

Your continued & sophomoric sophistry is appalling.

Just following your MO of posting weeks after the conversation has finished so you can get the last word with a pointed insult.

You're going to tell me that the UN and the US govt have no political bias in their continued conversations about CO2 reduction. Wake up.
