(AP) -- Anna Patterson's last Internet search engine was so impressive that industry leader Google Inc. bought the technology in 2004 to upgrade its own system. She believes her latest invention is even more valuable - only this time it's not for sale.

Strange, I just tried a few search terms.
1st, google returned 2.7mil. Cuil returned 49k.
Another search term, google 1.5mil. Cuil 0..!
Another google 19.7mil, Cuil 0..
I'm assuming it's not properly running yet?

It seems that Google still has more comprehensive foreign language support. Google will give you valid results for Chinese, Japanese or Korean character search terms. Cuil gags on them.

I tried a search on dairy and it gave 0 results.
Then I hit the tab dairy products and it gave me 54000 results.
When refining gives more results then there is something wrong or, Site is hacked already?

Apparently, they weren't able to handle the load. Just went to their site and...

"Due to overwhelming interest, our Cuil servers are running a bit hot right now. The search engine is momentarily unavailable as we add more capacity.

Thanks for your patience."

Doesn't bode well.

Want to see a good one! If you search cuil for "cuil", it doesn't find itself in the first page of results.

I also searched for my email provider "Juno" and quil did not find the movie.

FYI, gogle found both of the above

Unfortunately they probably DO gag on foreign languages: "Cuil" sounds like a vulgarity in both Portuguese and Spanish.

No mistake about it, though: good site, great engine.

The search results I got were not at all relevant. I performed a niche search on some terms that should have returned 3 specific websites on the first page and returned none within 10 pages.

Sorry to say this is a failure in my book.

Sorry, I really need a search engine that understand Chinese. Its interface looks interesting, but don't claim itself biggest okay?
