Briefs: Korean scientist's research license voided

Prof. Hwang Woo-Suk

The South Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare has revoked disgraced cloning scientist Hwang Woo-suk's license to conduct embryonic stem-cell research.

Hwang admitted ordering one of his researchers to manipulate samples of stem-cell lines, and then submitted the faked research for publication in the U.S. journal Science.

The Thursday action prohibits Hwang from gaining access to donors' eggs for experiments, Chosun, a South Korean newspaper, reported.
