April 2012 heats up as 5th warmest month globally

May 15, 2012 By SETH BORENSTEIN , AP Science Writer

(AP) -- Unseasonable weather pushed last month to the fifth warmest April on record worldwide, federal weather statistics show.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Climatic Data Center calculated that April's of 57.9 degrees (14.4 degrees Celsius) was nearly 1.2 degrees (0.7 degrees Celsius) above the 20th Century normal. Two years ago was the hottest April since recordkeeping started in 1880.

Last month was the third hottest April in the United States and unusually warm in Russia, but cooler than normal in parts of western Europe. This is despite a now ended La Nina which generally lowers .

Temperatures that would have once been considered unusually hot and record breaking now aren't even in the top two or three, said Michael Oppenheimer, a Princeton University .

The last time the globe had a month that averaged below the 20th Century normal was February 1985. April makes it 326 months in a row. Nearly half the population of the world has never seen a month that was cooler than normal, according to United Nations data.

"A warmer world is the new normal," Oppenheimer said. "To me, it's startling to think that a generation has grown up with global warming defining their world."

The first four months of 2012 only rank the 15th warmest on record.

Where is ParkerTard and the other denialist fools?

Shouldn't they be here proclaiming that the earth is cooling and how the NOAA are in league with the grey aliens for the purpose of destroying the global economy and turning the world population into slave labor for the overlords of the planet MetaLuna?

Where is ParkerTard and the other denialist fools?

Probably their heads exploded - too much cognitive dissonance for one day. Here is an article showing that electricity prices go down when you incorporate wind or solar power on to the grid - not that I am one to gloat or anything.... http://cleantechn...germany/

It's interesting to note that western Europe was cooler than normal. April was bitterly cold and wet in Ireland, despite one of the warmest March's on record. In like a Lion, out like a Lamb, as they say.

In North America and Russia it went more like - In like summer in April, out like summer in April.

In those areas, unprecedented heat.

Classic cherry picking. So what? This means nothing. Weather is not climate except when it suits extremists.

Gregor is right. Weather is not climate. Odd how he only comes to such a conclusion when it is in the defense of his Denialism.

"hottest April since recordkeeping started in 1880."

132/2e9 = 6.6e-8

Not much of a record.

Oh look. Libertarian Tard Boy RyggTard has managed to figure out how the division button works on his kid's calculator and managed to divide 132 by a big random number.

Imagine how small he can make the result when he realizes that he can divide by even bigger random numbers.

Sadly this IS what passes for Conservative Intelligence in America.

RyggTard's children are going to find it difficult to eat the sand that is replacing America's grain belt.

Great work Vendicar and Dir. Your belligerent name calling and bullying is driving readers in droves to the skeptic camp. It's great to see you driving nails into your own coffins by hurling abuse. Keep up the good work. Readers, if I sound like a 'fool' google 'climate' and make up your own minds. From my experience, people hurl abuse when they're hiding something.

Excellent. More fertilizer for cropland.

Then what is Rush Limbaugh hiding when he calls for the death by hanging of Climate Scientists?
