The Sun is behaving with its usual start stop fashion. Nothing too unusual, but still we should be building all new power lines underground. This always seemed like such a no-brainer. Trees blowing over in wind storms cuts aerial power lines in my neck of the woods, all the time.

How on earth these rich guys convinced, for example, Fidel Castro and all of the cuban scientists (really good ones too FYI) to keep quiet? Or what about all of the countless (former) USRR scientists, or the east-german ones, or the scientists under the dictatorship of other nations that hate americans and the west, PLEASE TELL ME how did these rich western families convince all of these countries and their scientists to keep quiet about "the truth" behind earth's climate and take part on a absurd conspiracy that would keep the western rich men rich(er) and them poorer?

That is pretty much the same argument I would use against any conspiracy theory. Remember the oil companies and the 100MPH carburetor? They've done the carburetor (in a radically stripped down car), but if it had been practical sooner I'm sure the Japanese or some other resource strapped nation would have used it as soon as they had their hands on a working model.

We aren't even close to being one nation or group. The kinds of theories that require major suppression of earth changing knowledge require everyone be on board.

Well, for starters it is in the 100th smallest nation on the planet (there are only 99 nations -out of 234- with less area). It has 0.4%, that's ~1/237th, the surface area of the U.S. Which is to say it's easy to invest in more expensive infrastructure when you don't have to invest in as much of it.
