U.S. to fund multiple hydrogen projects

The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded $11.2 million for 13 research projects involving the production, storage and use of hydrogen.

"This funding will support transformational scientific research addressing major issues underpinning the hydrogen economy: hydrogen storage, essential for transportation; and catalysts, for hydrogen production, storage and use," said Energy Department Undersecretary for Science Raymond Orbach.

The projects will focus on fundamental science in support of hydrogen technologies. Thirteen universities and national laboratories in 10 states and the District of Columbia will conduct the research.
