Sony Bluetooth car stereo comes to Canada

Canadian commuters will soon be able to have access to their car stereo as well as their cell phones using the same headset.

Sony of Canada announced that its MEX-BT5000 stereo has Bluetooth capability that allows motorists to listen to the radio or CD player through their headset when they aren't gabbing on their cell phone.

"By giving people a hassle-free, all-in-one audio solution, our intention is to help make drivers' lives easier while raising their expectations for car stereos," said Sony Product Manager Neil Dutton.

The device plays MP3 and other codecs along with standard audio CDs, and it can bank up to 50 phonebook entries for the phone function.

MEX-BT500 will retail for a suggested $500 starting next month.
