Magnolia transmit solution boosts wireless

Magnolia Broadband announced the conclusion of final field tests of a transmit solution it said boosted CDMA wireless voice capacity an average of 42 percent.

The trials for the DiversityPlus chipset were conducted by an unnamed U.S. Code Division Multiple Access digital carrier and reflected similar tests last summer with SK Telecom in South Korea.

"We are pleased to have conducted the final testing of our DiversityPlus technology with a major U.S. wireless carrier and we look forward to commercial deployment in the United States at the end of the year," said Chief Executive Officer Osmo Hautanen. "Carriers deploying our technology will be able to provide a high level of service while substantially reducing capital and operating costs."

DiversityPlus chipsets embedded in wireless handsets combine radio transmit signals and are designed to allow carriers to serve more individual customers without a significant increase in cell-tower numbers and with fewer dead zones.

The chipset also requires lower power volumes and allows higher data flows through a handset.
