In Brief: Fujitsu telco grid computing system tested
A system that allows telecom companies to better manage load fluctuations on their networks has been developed by Japan's Fujitsu and France Telecom.
A news release Wednesday said the grid computing system was recently field tested in Paris and Japan and would be unveiled at Grid World next month.
Grid computing is the use of a distributed network of computers in the same fashion that a single computer is used. The technique allows telcos to react quickly to large fluctuations in calling loads and with more power than a single computer could.
The trials of the GSP (2) system involved two dozen individual servers. The next step will be verification testing, the release said.
