In Brief: Freek provides 'secure' socializing site

Seamless Peer2Peer plans to unveil a new Web site for socializing by teenagers with greater security and user verification.

Social Web sites have grown in popularity among chatty teens and young adults; however, there have been growing concerns about pedophiles and other unsavory characters masquerading as kids in order to cyber-schmooze potential victims.

The Freek2Freek site will have a backbone that allows transmission of data among peers in a more transparent manner, even if the users are behind firewalls or proxies.

"Freek2Freek will be a truly 'safe' online community where everyone who interacts on it will be authenticated and all communications will be encrypted," said Seamless WiFi, the parent company of Peer2Peer.

No hard launch date for Freek2Freek has been set.
