Buzz builds for Microsoft Origami debut

The tech community continued speculating about Microsoft's mysterious Origami Project Thursday following announcement of a release date.

Microsoft revealed on it Web site this week that Origami, believed to be a portable PC aimed at the iPod market, would make its debut March 9.

The announcement is believed by the tech media to be slated for the opening of the CeBIT trade show in Germany.

The conventional wisdom in the vacuum of hard details holds that Origami is a wireless device about the size of a book that appeals to an audience relatively well skilled in software. It reportedly accommodates high-demand functions such as music, video and gaming as well as Internet connectivity.

The retail price is pegged in some reports at around $600.
