Briefs: Sony to stop employing former executives

Sony said Thursday it will stop appointing former executives as special advisers after their retirement.

The electronics giant said that the current 45 advisers will all be departing at the end of March. The plan is part of Chief Executive Howard Stringer's plan to cut costs and make the company less top-heavy.

Among those who will be departing as special advisers is Nobuo Ide, the former chairman of Sony.
