Briefs: Swisscom buys part of Siemens

Swisscom said Tuesday it will buy up part of Siemens's Swiss operations.

Swisscom Solutions will be acquiring the Internet Protocol platforms of Siemens Switzerland's larger business clients. About 120 Siemens employees will be moving onto Swisscom as a result of the deal.

"The move will allow both companies to further build on their strengths in the area of convergent communications solutions for business customers in Switzerland. Swisscom Solutions will be able to increase its expertise in the planning, installation, operation and maintenance of companies' in-house voice and data networks while Siemens provides support for these products and concentrates its resources on both expanding current solutions and developing innovative new solutions," Swisscom said in a news release.
