Briefs: New Chryslers accomodate iPod

Most of Chrysler's 2006 models will be equipped with sound systems that accommodate the driver's iPod.

The dashboard docking system will pump iPod music through the vehicle's speakers and can be controlled by the stereo pushbuttons or a control on the steering wheel.

Chrysler is the first North American automaker to adopt the iPod and will make iPod integration available on most Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles.

Apple said in a news release Monday that the Chrysler plans involve about 3 million individual vehicles and noted that after-market car stereos capable of hosting iPods are becoming increasingly available for older vehicles.
