Siemens provides T-Mobile music tech

Siemens said Friday it will provide T-Mobile International with music download technology for mobile handsets.

The German electronics group will be providing its so-called music2you technology for all T-Mobile subsidiaries worldwide.

The system will allow song titles to be seen on a mobile handset, then purchased and downloaded through the mobile network. Tracks can also be downloaded via a personal computer then burned on to a CD or downloaded to a digital music player.

"The market for digital music is going to expand, and the requirements placed upon the mobile networks will continue to rise," Giulio Panzera, music2you project leader at Siemens Switzerland, said in a news release.
