Republican group lauds telecom bill
A group of Republicans Monday lauded Congress's draft of the latest telecom legislation.
The Republican Main Street Partnership, a self-described group of economically conservative Republicans, said that efforts by House Telecommunications and Internet Subcommittee Chairman Fred Upton, R-Mich., and Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Joe Barton, R-Texas, was providing "a creative roadmap to take the U.S. telecommunications industry into the 21st century with endless technology breakthroughs and strict protection of the American consumers who will reap the benefits."
The group pointed out that the legislation will bolster competition, which will only further enhance the development of broadband and Internet-based voice and video services.
