Earthlink offers new security download

EarthLink launched a new downloadable security suite it says sweeps away unwanted spyware and viruses with less fuss than stand-alone protection products.

The popular U.S. ISP said in a release Tuesday that the EarthLink Protection Control Center integrates individual security features into a single product bundle that will be both faster and more convenient for users.

"The EarthLink Protection Control Center reinvents the proverbial 'KISS' acronym: it Keeps Internet Security Simple," explained EarthLink Vice President Kevin Brand. "The straightforward interface and fast scan enable subscribers to quickly manage and secure their machines."

EarthLink Protection Control Center is free to subscribers and available to non-subscribers for about $5 per month. It runs on Windows products down to Windows 98.

Some cookies and other desired applications can be exempted from being caught up in the new system's digital dragnet.
