ISS Crew to be Replaced on October 11

Sep 22, 2004

The International Space Station (ISS) crew will stay in orbit for two days longer than planned, Itar-Tass told today. The launching of the Soyuz TMA-5 spaceship has been postponed from October 9 to October 11 due to problems with the docking system. Gennady Padalka and Michael Fincke will return to the Earth on October 21. They have been working on board ISS since April.

Salizhan Sharipov (Russia) and Leroy Chiao (NASA) are going to replace Padalka and Fincke at ISS.

Lieutenant Colonel Yuri Shargin of the Russian Space Troops will visit ISS with the main expedition and return back to the Earth on October 21 together with Padalka and Fincke.
